Introduction

At Creative Activity, we believe every school should have access to environments that support every pupil’s development — spaces that calm, stimulate, and inspire. That’s exactly what we set out to create at Tempelogue College in Dublin, where we recently completed the installation of a brand new bespoke sensory room tailored to meet the evolving needs of the school and its students.

Background

Tempelogue College was granted a special class status just over a year ago. With the support of the Department of Education, they began exploring the idea of creating a sensory space that would not only serve pupils with additional needs but could also be embraced by the whole school community.

The school engaged with Jordan from Creative Activity, who oversaw the project from start to finish — from consultation and planning right through to design, installation and handover.

The Challenge

As a mainstream school preparing to expand its provision for pupils with additional learning needs, Tempelogue College needed a space that could:

• Support regulation and focus for pupils with sensory processing needs

• Offer a calming and engaging environment for moments of stress or overwhelm

• Be a flexible, accessible resource for both special and mainstream classes

• Be designed in line with the specific dimensions and layout of an existing space

The Solution

After a complimentary site visit and consultation, our team designed a fully bespoke sensory environment tailored to the space, needs and budget of the school.

We installed:

• Causeway Sensory Module - Bubble Tube, Soft Seating and Wirefree Controller

• LED Projectors with Visual Effects

• Liquid Floor Tiles

• Tactile Wall Panel

• Infinity Mirror Panel & Disco Ball

• Soft Bean Bags & Wall Padding

• Integrated Colour-Changing LED Lighting

Every element was carefully chosen to create a safe, immersive, and therapeutic environment that could grow with the school’s special class provision.
