Completed Project - Harberton Special School - North Campus, Belfast

Creative Activity were pleased to work with the Harberton Special School to equip their new facility in North Belfast with Sensory & Soft Play Areas as well as some outdoor playground equipment.

Harberton North was set up in September 2021 and was established to assist with the ever-increasing need for capacity to facilitate children with additional needs.

We completed 3 rooms in total within the school Firstly there is the Sensory Room, which is mainly used by the post-primary students and has proved to be a great area where students can come to and calm down and relax. There has been a great response from the pupils in this room. Additionally, there are 2 soft play rooms situated within the Primary Department of the campus. One of these rooms is set on a timetable each day to ensure that all students/classes get the maximum benefit out of the room to keep students engaged with the school day. The 2nd Soft Playroom is the smallest of the 3 rooms that we competed in the school. This room is primarily used for 1-to-1 sessions, and for children to come along and use if they are feeling a bit overwhelmed with the demands of the classroom. Also within this room, there are the black-out blinds which can be used to darken the room down and enable the room to be transformed into a lovely calming room for the pupil to help with de-escalation. We were pleased to also supply 2 of our popular Portable Sensory Trolleys into the school also as space is a premium and these are an excellent option to transform any space into a Multi-Sensory Environment.

Outside we were pleased to supply a variety of our free-standing outdoor play equipment which helps to encourage & develop physical play and role play, and is a great way to keep the pupils active.
